Reading Truck Body

Why Skipper loves working for Reading Truck Body:

Bruce Skipper was drawn to Reading Truck Body after high school graduation. After 50 year, Skipper calls Reading Truck Body home and considers his peers family. When asked what one fact someone might not know about his employer, Skipper said, “opportunities, opportunities, opportunities – people should be made aware that not only does the company hire for many unique positions, but they will also train employees to be skilled laborers, allowing for career pathways within the company in the future.”

Skipper himself benefited from training and development, and has seen many promotions since he started out as a material handler — from research and development lead to creating a weld-training department in 2014. Since then, he has been instrumental in training over 500 people in seven years!

Skipper considers Greater Reading the ideal place to call home sharing, “I’ve lived in the Reading area all my life, and often think back on the great time I spent at Blue Marsh Lake, the Reading Pagoda and other area parks. I enjoy the hiking trails, the farm lands, and the people.”

Why Miller loves working at Reading Truck Body:

Stacey Miller was drawn to Reading Truck Body/ Reading Truck Group for the amazing people and the many opportunities to grow and be challenged as part of the company culture, stating, “When you have the chance to work for a company that gives you the freedom to create, you wake up every day with a smile. Reading Truck Group has been a part of our community for over 65 years. Living in Berks County, you grow up seeing the READING tailgate on trucks with a feeling of pride.”

One thing you might not know about Reading Truck Group is how large it is! The organization includes two manufacturing plants and 14 retail/upfit locations across the country, and is a portfolio business of JB Poindexter & Companies; a $1.3B business that services the commercial trucking industry. Our Welding Training Center is a unique gem that was created initially to teach technique. We’ve since expanded this Center into a mini-assembly line that provides an incredible opportunity to learn a skilled trade!

Reading Truck Group supports and encourages training and development for all Team Members; both formal and informal. Whether it’s working with the latest technology and tools to enable our digital transformation, volunteering in the community, or participating in external seminars, webinars and secondary education programs – Reading is investing in its team members – as they are the heart of the company.

Miller wants to encourage talent to consider our region, and added, “The beauty of the rolling farm lands, mountain backdrop, nature trails, and lakes is something I wish everyone could see. There is so much to do … right here in our own backyard.”
