Recently, HomeArea.com named Reading as the number one city in Pennsylvania for homebuyers! In analyzing the median income level divided by the median home value by county, data shows housing is more affordable in the Greater Reading area than the surrounding counties throughout the south east region of Pennsylvania. In fact, in the past year, the median purchase price for a Berks County home was $54k – $200k less than homes in neighboring counties. Young professionals and other first-time buyers are able to transition into homeownership despite the competitive real estate market.
