What is it about Greater Reading that made you want to stay here after graduation? I chose to stay in the Greater Reading area for a couple of reasons—the close-knit communities, the access to education, the lifestyle and the areas around me.
Greater Reading gives you that family and friendly atmosphere, which played a significant role in my decision to attend Alvernia University. Greater Reading also has great access to higher education, and that has helped define me. I was able to graduate with three bachelor’s degrees and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
Greater Reading offers a balanced lifestyle with a blend of urban amenities and a more relaxed atmosphere. Cultural attractions, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues support a satisfactory quality of life. Most importantly, for someone who enjoys hiking, the area’s natural beauty is a significant draw.
What advice would you give recent graduates starting their careers in Greater Reading? You can develop a life that is fulfilling and enjoyable in your new era of life by being proactive, open to new experiences and involved in your community. Take part in volunteer opportunities or community activities that match your interests—allowing you to give back to the community while meeting new people.
Name your favorite Greater Reading event, festival to attend. I have attended a couple of favorite events in the Greater Reading area. Being a sports fan and having the Reading Royals and the Fightin Phils right here in Reading is great because I can experience a sports game with friends and family. I would also have to say West Reading’s Fall Festival and Craft Pretzel & Beer Fest, but I have also enjoyed attending the First Friday Events the city has hosted.
If someone is visiting the Greater Reading area, what are some things or places you would tell them to experience while they are here? Coming to the Greater Reading area, you must check out the centerpiece of Reading, the Pagoda. Visit restaurants like Chatty Monks and other breweries in the West Reading area including The Brick House Pub, Mom Chaffe’s and Nonno Alby’s!
