Lindsey Giacobello

Lindsey Giacobello
Student at Penn State Berks

Where are you originally from?
I am from Leesport, Pa. and went to Schuylkill Valley High School.

What made you decide to attend college in this area?
I was originally going to do the 2 + 2 program at Penn State where I would go to University Park after my second year at the Berks campus, but after my first year I decided to stay. What made me stay was the community at Penn State Berks. I got involved with an organization called Lion Ambassadors in my second semester, and from there I met all my friends and continued joining other organizations.

How has living in the Greater Reading area shaped your educational path?
Going to high school in the Greater Reading area gave me exposure to many of the local colleges throughout the county. I remember there were many college representatives that would visit my high school classes to help me start thinking about where I wanted to go.

Have you done an internship in Greater Reading? If so, at what company and what was your experience?
Last year, I had my first internship with RKL at its Reading office, and I am currently interning there for a second time. I am in the tax department, and my role involves preparing various types of tax returns. I enjoy the atmosphere at RKL and am excited to start their full-time in September.

What do you enjoy most about living in this area?
What I enjoy most about living in the Greater Reading area is that I am able to get a college education while at home. I can get two college degrees and still be able to spend time with my family.

If someone is visiting the Greater Reading area, what are some things or places you would tell them to experience while they are here? I would tell them to walk down Penn Ave in West Reading to experience the different stores and restaurants. Also, I would recommend going to a Reading Fightin Phils game or Reading Royals game depending on the time of year.
