What made you decide to attend college in this area?
What really stood out for me was how welcoming everyone in Reading was, especially with their enthusiasm for higher education and entrepreneurship. There is an incredible range of small local businesses to explore. The city is also full of energy in the warmer months. Once you begin exploring, it becomes clear that there are plenty of great opportunities available here.

How has living in the Greater Reading area shaped your educational path?
Living in the Greater Reading area has shaped my educational path by surrounding me with educators and professionals who truly embody success. Many of the instructors and mentors in the area have not only strong academic backgrounds but have also run successful businesses themselves. At the same time, we’re surrounded by thriving small business owners and professionals across many fields who demonstrate what’s possible locally. Seeing people build meaningful careers in the community keeps me motivated to push myself further in my education.
Have you done an internship in Greater Reading? If so, at what company and what was your experience?
I’ve interned at the O’Pake Institute for Economic Development & Entrepreneurship in Reading, which allowed me to assist businesses and startups all throughout Berks County. It gave me the chance to meet many passionate local business owners with great ideas. I learned what it was like to lead projects, build relationships and be an effective part of a team. I also discovered new passions and strengthened new skills, especially in website design and applied AI. I’m excited to apply these skills in a future career.

What do you enjoy most about living in this area?
I’d say it’s a combination of the affordable living, food and outdoor events. The area is typically inexpensive, and there’s no shortage of great local restaurants and bakeries. I especially love the annual Puerto Rican Parade. During that time, the city is thriving with music, art, food and local vendors.

If someone is visiting the Greater Reading area, what are some things or places you would tell them to experience while they are here? I would recommend visiting The Nature Place and Angelica Creek Park in the warmer months. The building itself has interactive exhibits and even a small store. The trails and the park are great places to exercise, relax, study and just get together with friends. It’s the perfect reminder that, beyond the city, there’s a lot of nature to enjoy in Reading, too.
