Greater Reading’s Biggest Successes of 2025

Throughout 2025, Greater Reading built strong momentum across industrial growth, redevelopment planning, housing, arts and culture, and private investment. Major milestones included the groundbreaking of the $350 million Broadcast District and large warehouse projects such as Gateway Commerce Center. At the same time, the region prioritized reuse of existing sites, including the former Glidden Paint factory and Berkshire Mall, to attract new businesses and retail. Housing projects also moved forward, from converting a former hosiery mill on Moss Street to turning a former college dorm into apartments, helping address the need for more local housing. Together, these efforts across manufacturing, retail and neighborhood investment reflect a steady and growing local economy.
