The Greater Reading area boasts a variety of technical schools that provide robust training programs, equipping individuals with the technical skills needed for economically rewarding careers in various trades and industries.

The Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC) offers 35 career programs across the following career clusters: Business & Information Technology, Communications, Construction, Engineering & Manufacturing Technology, Healthcare, Services and Transportation. These programs are designed in collaboration with local employers, ensuring that the skills taught are directly applicable to the regional job market. These programs benefit high school students and adults looking to acquire new skills or switch careers. The hands-on training provided at BCTC prepares students for immediate employment in their chosen fields.

Reading Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center (RMCTC) provides technical education to high school students and adults. It offers 30 training programs across the following clusters: Construction, Graphic Design & IT Systems, Health Sciences, Manufacturing, Personal Services and Transportation. The center’s programs are tailored to meet the needs of the local economy, providing students with relevant skills required by employers. RMCTC’s strong partnerships with local businesses and industries create excellent opportunities for internships and job placements, ensuring students are well-prepared to enter the workforce.

Berks Technical Institute (BTI) offers adult programs in fields such as healthcare, business and skilled trades. The institute focuses on providing career-oriented education that combines classroom learning with practical training. BTI’s programs are designed to be flexible, accommodating the schedules of working adults who are looking to advance their careers or transition into new fields. The institute’s career services team works closely with students to help them secure internships and job placements upon graduation.
