Eric Garcia, Elementary Gifted/ Innovation Teacher for Reading School District: 10th & Green Elementary School/ Lauer’s Park Elementary School

Lives in Bern Township

Garcia is a gifted/ innovation Teacher for the Reading School District (RSD). He teaches at 10th & Green Elementary School and Lauer’s Park Elementary School. Garcia graduated from Reading High School in 2005. He has taught in the Reading School District for 15 years—the last two as a gifted/ innovation teacher.

Passionate about giving back, Garcia has a sense of pride knowing this is where he came from and now, he can inspire his students to make the world a better place.

The most rewarding aspect of his job is seeing the excitement on the student’s faces when they see him in the halls since he rotates between two schools. He works with over 1,200 students from both locations since he works with the same class every 10 days.

Garcia loves that the RSD has invested in him, and, ultimately, the students. The RSD supported him to attend Albright’s Total Experience Learning program. As part of this innovative program, he could study abroad for one week at Oxford University. He said the administration is open to new ideas and empowers its staff to be creative while addressing challenges.

Greater Reading is a great place to live, especially if you are a person who wants to get involved in the community to make a difference. The community is full of innovators and problem solvers who want to share their knowledge with others for the greater good.
