Arkema Inc.
Pat Papoutsis, Senior Health Environmental & Safety Specialist
Why Papoutsis loves working for Arkema Inc.:
Papoutsis came to Arkema Inc. after working for a larger organization where he worked long hours and struggled to find a good work-life balance.
“The Birdsboro Arkema plant was just the right size and had a very good safety culture to begin with. I felt that the opportunity was too good to pass up. It allowed me the opportunity to meet many wonderful new people who wanted to get better and progress on their safety journey,” he said.
He said that Arkema’s culture makes it a great place to work. Managers listen to their employees and respond to provide appropriate assistance, and the pay and benefits give employees the means to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle.
The company offers employees web-based learning programs in addition to tuition assistance and work flexibility. Papoutsis took advantage of this perk by completing job-related, professional coursework.
Papoutsis loves working in Greater Reading because it offers so many opportunities to gain technical, production and leadership skills. Volunteers at local organizations mentor those who are interested in advancing in their chosen field. And he loves living in the area because it is a “great melting pot of the world.”
“I served in the U.S. Army and had an opportunity to visit many different areas of the United States and other countries. I chose to return to Berks County because of the diversity, climate and activities available within an hour drive or less from the area. The way we experience the four seasons is like no other,” he said.
