Where are you from originally?
Originally, I am from Las Vegas. I came here after my husband had a job opportunity and then I went back to school.
What is it about Greater Reading that made you want to stay here after graduation?
I love the small-town community atmosphere with the city accessibility. We have the amenities of a large city but the quiet nature of a small town. My position is a remote position, but my husband and I elected to buy [a home] here because we loved the community.
What advice would you give recent graduates starting their careers in Greater Reading?
Consider remote careers. Also realize there are many great opportunities in our area that sometimes go unnoticed. Working remote allows for the flexibility of having a home life balance, and this area is great for that.
Name your favorite Greater Reading event, festival to attend.
We love the Berks County wine trail. We enjoy the opportunity to support local wineries and have been a believer ever since. Also, I love the West Reading Art on the Avenue, and I’m a regular at the Farmers Market. Also loved the Pokémon Go days as we walked around the parks meeting other folks catching Pokémon.
If someone is visiting the Greater Reading area, what are some things or places you would tell them to experience while they are here?
I would first direct them to the Reading Public Museum. There is so much to do there, from the Planetarium and Arboretum to the Museum itself. If they were into sports, probably the Santander Arena for a hockey game or the Fightin Phils for a baseball game.
