Kutztown University Awarded over $900K to Address Teacher Shortage Through Dual Credit

Kutztown University has been awarded a $946,951 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to expand its Dual Credit Innovation program, aiming to address the state’s teacher shortage. The funding will support the Early College Academy for Education, which allows high school students to take college-level education courses on campus. The program plans to increase enrollment from 39 to 150 students over two years, including expansion into rural school districts. This initiative seeks to build a pipeline of future educators by providing early exposure to college coursework and reducing financial and transportation barriers.
