Berks County communities will receive over $200,000 in state funding for infrastructure and public safety projects through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Local Share Account – Category 4 Facilities Program. Boyertown Borough will use $66,462 to renovate the Boyertown YMCA, creating a 2,600-square-foot family locker room. Washington Township will receive grants totaling $130,681 to upgrade emergency communication systems and install a backup generator for its sewer system. Amity Township will use $21,788 to install solar-powered speed radar signs in high-risk areas to enhance roadway safety. Sen. Tracy Pennycuick and Rep. Mark Gillen, who helped secure the funding, emphasized the importance of these investments in improving community infrastructure and safety.
