The City of Reading has been awarded a $250,000 state grant through Governor Josh Shapiro’s PA SITES (Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites) program to begin planning the redevelopment of the former Dana Corporation property. This vacant, 50-acre industrial site has remained unused for decades. The funding is crucial for completing detailed planning work, which includes environmental assessments, infrastructure evaluations and utility studies. This planning is a critical step in transforming the brownfield into a ready-to-develop location that can attract private investment and create new jobs. Mayor Eddie Morán stated the award is a “tremendous opportunity for Reading’s future,” showcasing a shift from the city’s industrial past to one of growth and innovation.
