Two Berks County food producers, Clover Farms Dairy and Keim Orchard, will share over half a million dollars in federal funding to strengthen Pennsylvania’s food supply chain. Clover Farms Dairy received $500,000 to expand refrigeration and product development, enabling increased milk processing and sourcing from more local producers. Keim Orchard in Oley Valley was awarded $48,745 for new stainless steel fruit packing machinery, which will improve efficiency and distribution to schools, food banks, and wholesalers. These grants, part of the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure program, aim to modernize facilities, improve food distribution, and expand access to fresh, locally produced food, underscoring Berks County’s vital role in the state’s agricultural economy.
