Tell us one thing about your employer that someone else might not know.
Penn State Berks has a welcoming working environment, beautiful campus and friendly relationship between faculty and students.
How has Penn State Berks helped you develop professionally?
Azar – Penn State Berks has helped me to develop a Fluid Mechanics Lab that includes a unique water channel facility. This has equipped me to receive awards from the National Science foundation (NSF) to do my research on aerodynamics of flapping winds, like birds and insects.
Amir – I have received multiple internal grants to continue my research on composite materials.
Does Penn State Berks allow you to volunteer?
Absolutely. Amir and I are extremely proud to have opportunities to share our research results to K-12 students, undergraduate students and industry guests through several public outreach events. We helped with the Mid-Atlantic American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) conference at Penn State Berks. We have been the Judge Advisors for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) over the past four years to help with tournament preparation and judging oversight, which has been a very successful and fun event in STEM fields. We are also involved with some science programs at high schools in the area. Azar is also the advisor of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) club, seeking to increase the number of female students in the engineering programs.
